Our History

Teletrac Navman leverages 25 years of telematics experience to help customers enhance business performance and lower operating costs through solutions that improve fleet management. With 40,000 customers globally and 900 employees across the United States (U.S.), Europe and Asia Pacific, we have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by fleet managers worldwide.

Over the years, we’ve continually developed our fleet management technologies to help businesses meet these challenges. From early mobile navigation devices to ruggedised tracking solutions, electronic work diaries and fleet intelligence systems, our solutions have been at the forefront of telematics in Australia and New Zealand since we launched our first integrated tracking unit as Navman Wireless in 2006.

Recent Developments

In 2015 we launched DIRECTOR, a new GPS fleet management platform. The software provides customers with unparalleled workforce data and analysis. In the same year, we merged with GPS fleet tracking company Teletrac, Inc., to become one of the world’s largest telematics organisations. In 2016, we became Teletrac Navman and acquired Transtech Driven, further extending our transport compliance capabilities to help improve road safety.

Timeline

1986 – Talon Technology founded in New Zealand as a concept for Marine applications.

1990 – Secured ownership of Navman Trademark.

2003 – Navman NZ granted a patent for the first M-Nav device, breaking new ground in fleet management.

2006 – Launched the first integrated tracking and navigation unit under the new brand, Navman Wireless. 

2008 – Navman Wireless becomes Telstra Gold Partner in Australia.

2011 – Winner of the prestigious Chicago Innovation Award for Qtanium 300, the first universal construction fleet tracking system. 

2012 – Navman Wireless Acquired by Danaher Corporation. 
Formed a partnership with Transtech Driven to provide a market-leading driver fatigue management system, Sentinel.

2013 – Launched the Qtanium 350, a ruggedised asset tracking solution for the construction and mining sectors. 

2014 – Launched a business intelligence solution, Adaptive Intelligence, enabling customers to use fleet analytics data for KPI-based decision-making and generating business insights.

2015 – Launched the GPS Driver Tracker in partnership with Domino’s Pizza Enterprises in ANZ, implementing tracking across the entire Australian pizza delivery fleet. Won a Gold Stevie Award for Most Innovative Company. 
Navman Wireless merged with Teletrac, Inc., a leading telematics provider in the U.S. and U.K., to extend global reach.
Launched flagship GPS fleet management platform, DIRECTOR, to provide customers with unparalleled fleet data. 

2016 – Rebranded as Teletrac Navman.
Acquired Transtech Driven, a leading compliance solutions provider, to help improve driver safety in the transport industry. 
Danaher divests. Fortive Corporation (NYSE: FTV), a diversified industrial growth organisation, becomes the parent company of Teletrac Navman.
